To Dr. Michael Kelrick, Professor of Biology, the new Director of
Interdisciplinary Studies. According to our Provost & Vice President for
Academic Affairs, "Michael has been a strong voice for interdisciplinary study
on our campus for many years, and during his 20-year tenure at Truman has
engaged in interdisciplinary inquiry as both a scholar and teacher. He has a
strong record of fostering the natural interdisciplinary interests of his
students. In addition to his good work with students, he has also established
himself as a leader in the development of interdisciplinary curricula, including
our Interdisciplinary Studies Major, the Environmental Studies Minor, and the
Mathematical Biology Program.
My vision and hopes for this position and for interdisciplinarity at Truman have
been continued with Dr. Kelrick's appointment and my knowledge that
interdisciplinarity will be in good hands. I am encouraged by the campus support
for interdisciplinary study at Truman and look forward to watching it continue
to grow and develop on our campus under Michael's leadership.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Kelrick. I know that he will appreciate
your support for and continued commitment to interdisciplinary study at Truman."
